Depictions of Fastnacht adorn the facade of Restaurant Fritschi, known for good service and fondue, even in summer. Brother Fritschi gave money for wine to be served to the poor during Fastnacht, Lucerne’s renowned caelbration before Lenten fasting. A fountain bt Dt. Peter’s Chapel is dedicated to him.

Hotel Vilden Mann, a 4-star historic Romantik Hotel, has two dining options, the refined elegance of Sauvage, with 14 Gault Millau points, or the rustic charm of the Burgerstube. A funicular runs to the19th century Hotel Château Gütsch, inspired by the fairytale castle Neuschwanstein. The restaurant and outdoor terrace, and bar are known for the spectacular view of the city, lake and mountains. Built on the hill for English tourists it is now Russian-owned. It was rumored that Donald Trump was interested in purchasing it.
